Hosting and Domain: Analogy

Hosting and domain: analogy

To explain what hosting is, I like to give an analogy to the rental space in the mall that you rent for your store. You can make this space your goods, and it will become yours. The same goes for hosting website files.

In order for people to find your store, it needs a name like “Shop 5, Mega Mall, Cherry Street, City…”. You can also compare your store’s address to the IP address of your hosting space.

To help people remember and find your store, you give it a “Cool Shop” type. People easily remember such a name and on it they find the address. Domains work on a similar principle, making it easier to remember your site.
And if you want to move elsewhere, your address will change, but the name of the store will remain the same “Cool Shop.” This means that people can still find your store by name and find out its address. With hosting and domain there is a similar situation. While moving your site, your IP address changes, but you can attach the domain name to a new address so people can find you by the name of the site.

Tip: Usually companies provide both types of services, and hosting and domain. But in my opinion and observations it is better to work with different companies for hosting and domain. The company should fully focus on a separate topic. So you won’t keep “all the eggs in one basket.” Now that you’ve learned the basics of web hosting, let’s move on to how to choose a provider.
List of questions: What you need to know first

Even hosting with great service may not suit you if it doesn’t meet the requirements of your project. Therefore, before you start comparing hostings you need to know all the details and requirements of your site.
